Notchzy is made by Dhananjay Kohar. In short: the Notchzy app works entirely on your PC. It doesn't collect, upload, sell or share your data.
What the app uses, and why
- Media information (song title, artist, album art) from Windows, to show what's playing. Not stored.
- Notifications: if turned on, Notchzy reads new Windows notifications to show them in the island for a few seconds. They are never saved or sent anywhere. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Clipboard history: if turned on, Notchzy keeps the last 20 texts, links and images you copy, in memory only, so you can copy them again. Only items you pin are saved, on your PC (pinned images as picture files). Anything password managers mark as private is skipped. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Weather: if you type a city in Settings, Notchzy sends that city name to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to find it, then its coordinates every 30 minutes to get the weather. Nothing else is sent. Remove the city in Settings to stop.
- To-dos you add are saved on your PC only.
- Calendar: if you paste a private calendar link (Google, Outlook or iCloud) into Settings, Notchzy downloads your calendar from that link every 15 minutes to show your events. The link is stored only on your PC, and your events are kept in memory only, never saved or sent anywhere else.
- File tray: remembers the locations of files you drop on the island (not the files themselves), on your PC.
- Settings and an error log are stored on your PC.
Internet use by the app
- Notchzy checks GitHub (where its updates are published) for updates a few times a day. This is an ordinary web request; like any website, GitHub may see your IP address. No personal information is sent.
- If you add a calendar link, Notchzy downloads it directly from your calendar provider, which handles that request under its own privacy policy.
- If you press Test internet speed in PC stats, Notchzy downloads and uploads about 100 MB of test data to Cloudflare's speed test (speed.cloudflare.com). Nothing about you is sent; like any website, Cloudflare may see your IP address. This happens only when you press the button.
- PC stats (CPU, memory, apps, network) are read on your PC to show them and never sent anywhere.
- Notchzy has no ads, analytics or tracking.
Buying Notchzy
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. We never see your card details. This website
notchzy.com has no analytics or tracking cookies. If you joined our earlier waitlist, we keep your email only to tell you about Notchzy; ask us and we'll delete it.
Error reports
If you choose Send error report in the app, it opens an email to us containing your Notchzy and Windows versions, your Notchzy settings (without your calendar link) and recent error messages. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself. We use reports only to fix problems.
Removing your data
Uninstalling Notchzy removes the app. To also remove your settings, pinned clipboard items and error log, delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Notchzy. To have your purchase or waitlist details deleted, email us.
